What to agree with the host

Surf Neutral is not part of the rental. A checklist of what surfer and host should agree on.

Surf Neutral shows which boards are for rent and passes on your request. The rental itself is between the surfer and the host: Surf Neutral doesn't take payments and is not a party to it. There is no standard rental contract; you make your own agreement.

Before the pick-up, agree on these points, for example in the Surf Neutral chat so you both have them in writing:

  • Dates and times of pick-up and return.
  • Place of pick-up and return.
  • Price for the whole period, and how and when you pay (cash, bank transfer, payment app).
  • Deposit: how much, how it is paid, and when it comes back.
  • The board's condition at pick-up: take photos together of existing dings.
  • Damage: the host's ding prices apply (see Damage, dings and insurance).
  • Extras such as fins, leash, board bag or wax.
  • Cancelling: what happens with money already paid if one of you cancels.
  • Identity: the host may ask to see an ID.

More rules for using Surf Neutral are in our Terms and Conditions.
