Board of the week! #26

Hey dudes and dudettes

Welcome to Surf Neutral's Board of the Week newsletter 26. This week we're talking about the Sidecut Fish - a modern take on a retro classic, made by Henry Muller under his Chopersurfcraft label.

The Sidecut Fish has taken the classic down-the-line straight rail fish and added a whole new dimension of manoeuvrability. This board is designed to perform in critical sections of the wave while delivering the drive you expect from a fish.

Shaper: Henry Muller
Model: SIDECUT FISH
Board Details: Right here

This model is coupled with either cut-away keels or an upright Twin fin template where one can expect a fish that will still give that drive you desire while being able to perform in more critical sections on the wave.. This shortboard is made with PU technology and measures 5’7” x 21" x 2 1/2".

On this one, the Twin fin setup is glassed-on to ensure maximum performance; the glassing is 6+4oz on the top and 4oz on the bottom fibre glass. It has a clear design and is perfect for those who want a simple yet stylish look.

Now, let's talk about the man behind the board - Henry Mueller, a 26-year-old surfboard maker from Cape Town, South Africa. He started his business, Chompersurfcraft, after being unimpressed with his college's curriculum. With the deposit he received, he purchased the tools he needed to create surfboards professionally.

Henry has a specific mindset and interest in the history of surfing and surfboard design. He is very consistent in his work and lets the finished product do the talking. Henry emphasizes the importance of doing what you love and being true to it, as it's crucial for the success of any venture.

He admits to faking it until he made it and believes that his consistency is key to organic growth. With the Sidecut Fish, Henry has created a modern twist on a retro classic that is sure to impress any surfer.

So, if you're looking for a board that combines performance with style and is crafted with care by one pair of hands, look no further than Chompersurfcraft in Capetown South Africa.

Happy surfing!
