The ACID FISH
This surfboard is like a trusty steed in the ocean - always ready for adventure and willing to take on any wave you throw its way! This all-round fish/hybrid design is a versatile master of disguise, capable of transforming you from a knee-high beach break surfer to an overhead barrel conqueror with just a flick of the tail.
The center point of the board is moved forward, giving it a fuller nose and a personality to match. And those wings in the fin area? Think of them as superhero capes, helping you make tight turns in the pocket like a pro. The half moon tail? That's the rocket booster, propelling you towards surf stardom.
According to the shaper, Ian Ihlenfeldt, this board is his go-to when he wants to feel like a surfing ninja.
This one board is made with PU technology and is sized at 5’8” x 20 1/4" x 2 3/8", making it the perfect mix of agility and stability. With its halfcrest moon tail and thruster fin setup, the ACID FISH is capable of tight turns and fast, powerful riding.
But wait, there's more! The ACID FISH is compatible with Futures fin systems, glassed with 6+4oz top and 6oz bottom fibreglass, ensuring its durability and strength, and the resin used is polyester which adds to its longevity.
This piece is a work of art with its single-colour resin tint design. And with a volume of 29L, this board is the perfect balance of float and performance. Meet Ian Ihlenfeldt, the surfing fanatic and shaper extraordinaire from sunny South Africa! At just 15 years old, Ian discovered his love for the ocean and decided to take matters into his own hands by crafting his very first surfboard. Fast forward to today, Ian is a seasoned shaper with over a THOUSAND surfboards under his belt.
Ian combines his expertise in working with a planer and the latest technology to create surfboards that are both creative and versatile. He's like a mad scientist in the shaping room, designing all of his boards in 3D and then giving each one a personal touch by hand. With Ian, it's not just about making a surfboard, it's about making a work of art.
But what sets Ian apart from other shapers is his passion for the craft. He's like a kid in a candy store when it comes to working with his favourite material, PU. It all started with a book called "Surfing in South Africa" and a section on fixing and making boards. That was the spark that ignited Ian's shaping journey, and he's been riding that wave of excitement ever since.
