BOTW 48: Wedge oldschool

The Birth of Wedge Surfboards:

Peter's fascination with shaping led to the creation of Wedge Surfboards, a brand synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. Wedge Surfboards was born out of a simple desire to ride better boards. As the surfing craze boomed in the '60s, Peter embraced the diversification of surf-craft designs, paving the way for the evolution of modern surfing.

The Legacy Continues: Peter's dedication to his craft extended to his sons, Gary 'Gazo' and Justin 'Justy.' Born into the South African surf culture, they began building boards under their father's guidance. With over twenty years of experience, Gazo has shaped over 15,000 boards, and his focus on building custom Epoxy Surfboards since 2006 has set them apart in the industry. Maisch Fins:

The necessity of having quality fins for Wedge Surfboards led to the birth of Maisch Fins. Peter, Gary, and Justin have upheld an old-school approach to crafting fins, pouring layer after layer of fiberglass resin to create fins with unparalleled quality. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship have made Maisch Fins highly sought after by surfers worldwide.

The Display at Nina's Real Food:

The featured surfboard, shaped by Peter Maisch in the mid/late '80s, was a great find. With its classic design and history, this board now graces the walls of Nina's Real Food restaurant in Jeffreys Bay, a place known for its delicious food and showcasing iconic African surfboards.
