Board of the week! #38

Welcome to another edition of the Surf Neutral Board of the Week Newsletter! In this week's issue, we are excited to showcase a remarkable board created by Cronje Wessels of Jbay Fin Design. This board has an intriguing backstory and represents the creativity and craftsmanship within the surfing community.

Originally known as the BigEazy, this beautiful 9.4" board was shaped by the talented Daniel Keggie. Daniel, who is a ghost shaper for various brands, also creates exceptional boards under his DK Surfboards label. Unfortunately, the BigEazy met an unfortunate fate and was snapped beyond repair. However, Cronje's love for the board led him to take a unique approach to extend its lifespan.

Cronje decided to repurpose the broken board into a grom board for his son, making it his first ever shape. With his expertise as a master craftsman and the founder of Jbay Fin Design, it's no surprise that the result was radical.
The new board measures 4’6” x 18 1/2" x 2", featuring a 6oz top and bottom fiberglass lamination and some incredible glass-on fins by Jbay Fin Design.

We congratulate Cronje on his first shaping endeavor and commend him for his innovative thinking in giving the damaged board a new lease on life. The Surf Neutral community is always inspired by surfers who embrace sustainability and find creative solutions to minimize waste.

If you're interested in experiencing Cronje's craftsmanship firsthand, we invite you to visit his Surf Neutral profile. You'll find information about his available boards for rental at his workshop. It's a fantastic opportunity to test out some of his fins and ride one of his personal boards.

Before we wrap up, we'd like to share some exciting news. Based on a recent survey, we discovered that 62.5% of the Surf Neutral community expressed a strong interest in having their own domain powered by Surf Neutral.
