Board of the week! #28

Hey there, fellow surf enthusiasts! It's time for the 28th edition of Surf Neutral's Board of the Week Newsletter, and we've got a real treat for you today. This week's featured board was shaped by none other than Oscar Larghi, a 61-year-old Argentinian surfer and shaper from Mar del Plata.

Oscar is an advanced surfer with decades of experience under his belt. He's been shredding the waves since 1982, and he's one of the most respected surfers in his local community. What's more, he's also an incredibly talented shaper who has been making boards for nearly as long as he's been surfing.

But what really sets Oscar apart is that he's the first shaper from South America to have a surfboard featured on Surf Neutral. That's right, folks! This board is not only a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship, but it's also a milestone for Surf Neutral in the South American surf community. Thanks, Oscar!

So let's talk about the board itself. This beauty was shaped under Oscar's label, Jam Surfboards, which he started back in 1992 with his friend and shaping guru Renato Tiribelli. The inspiration for the label came from Oscar's desire to surf his own creations, and he's been shaping thousands of boards ever since.

The board we're featuring today is an 11’0” longboard that Oscar made as a tandem surfboard to shred with his wife or daughter. The single fin setup with a fin box and inlay design make it look super cool, and the resin type is polyester. Oscar shaped this board by hand and even did his own glassing to make sure that the quality was just right. He likes to work with PU foam because it allows him to shape the board more precisely.

What's really cool about Oscar's story is that his love for surfing started when he was just a kid, swimming with his father beyond the breaker and riding his first waves bare-chested. In 1982, he surfed for the first time with a board on the same beach where he had those sweet memories.

Oscar is a true legend in his local surf community, and it's no wonder why. He's a surfer and shaper who has dedicated his life to the ocean, and he's always pushing himself to be the best he can be. So if you're looking for a board that's built with passion and experience, this is the one for you!
