Board of the week! #12

A passion for surfing and surfboard craft has led Surf Neutral to where it is today. Our dream of connecting & let surfers surf surfboards of their favourite surfboard craftsmen never dies.

A new chapter in the surfboard industry cannot be ignored anymore.  Digital ownership, craftsmanship and history will soon take over allowing you to surf any local board at any place!

This traditionally handmade Board of the week number 12 is still an exception and is exceptionally beautiful.
Brand: CHAPTER SURFCRAFT
Shaper: Liam Bulgen
Owner: CHAPTER SURFCRAFT
Model: Butter Knife

Board Details: Right here
"MID I ROUND -> BUTTER KNIFE."

A fast, versatile surfboard that likes to be surfed high on the face and deep in the barrel. It can turn on a dime, maintain speed through flat sections, and drive through deep barrels.

This board has a flat deck, bevelled top with 60/40 rails with a slight tuck leading to a hard edge towards the tail with 'hidden' volume enabling effortless glide into waves.

The shape of this board was inspired by surfing with Mikey February and watching the high lines he was drawing combined with deep bottom turns and pocket surfing.
Liam Bulgen

Traditionally Liam was a self-shaper who made a variety of innovative surf craft for a full spectrum of waves ranging from one foot to twenty feet. After decades of product development and award-winning innovation, he developed a range of unique surfboards crafted from the finest sustainable materials that perform better and last longer. After moving to Europe, he was presented with an opportunity to share his creations and created a bespoke surf craft brand that is made with purpose, integrity and soul.
Liam got his inspiration from his father and craftsman for Woodpecker Surfboards, Bill Bulgen. Bill crafted hollow wooden surfboards using techniques pioneered by American surfer and inventor Tom Blake in the late 1920s and early 1930s, but with the aid of a state-of-the-art shaping program. His boards were genuinely unique and made of responsibly sourced plantation-grown wood and glassed with Super Sap, a plant-derived epoxy resin that is eco-friendly.

His legacy lives on!
