BOTW 52: Customized hybride fish

Let's reel in the deets on this bad boy: it's a custom hybrid fish, a shortboard with a PU technology core. Sized at 5'5" x 19 5/8" x 2 3/8", this fish boasts a stylish fishtail, a twin fin setup that's Futures Compatible, and a magical glassing trick of 4+4oz top / 4oz bottom Fiber Glass. Coated in a sleek polyester resin with a waterpaper finish, and to top it all off, it flaunts a vibrant Multi-Color Resin Tint design. It's not just a board; it's a work of art that Phillippe can proudly add to his quiver on Surf Neutral.

Now, let's dive into the history behind this aquatic wonder. Back in 1967, kneeboarder extraordinaire Steve Lis, hailing from sunny San Diego, had a radical vision. He wanted to take his kneeboarding skills to the next level at the La Jolla reefs, and thus, the fish surfboard was born. At the tender age of 16, armed with determination and a broken-in-half longboard, Lis crafted the first fish shape. Little did he know, this seemingly simple act would spark a revolution in surfboard design, ultimately contributing to the shortboard evolution.

Fast forward to the early '70s, and Steve's creation had caught the attention of pros like Jim Blears and David Nuuhiwa. In 1972, they rode fish-inspired designs at the World Championships in San Diego, conquering lackluster surf conditions and clinching first and second place. The fish's reputation soared as the go-to choice for mushy waves.

At Surf Neutral, we're all about spreading the stoke for surfboards. We're on a mission to liberate surfers from the hassle of lugging boards around, connecting them with local shapers, and offering the chance to test ride boards through our insured rentals.
