πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ Board of the Week: Dive into the Story of The Jelly Bean by Ben Soto πŸ„β€β™€οΈ

Hi Surf Crew,

We've got literally a little something special lined up for you this week – introducing The Jelly Bean by Ben Soto!

Board Model Story of the Jelly Bean was born of a broken surfboard that thought it had met its end, only to be brought back to life to ride the shorebreak and whimpers of your favourite beach break near you.

Mario, the proud owner of this board, didn't immediately come across as an ocean enthusiast to Ben. However, witnessing his buddy Devin thoroughly enjoying the original Jelly Bean loaned by Ben, Mario's curiosity piqued, leading him to request one of his own. Yet, Mario had a creative twist in mind – he desired a Fender-inspired Sunburst paint job. Collaborating with the skilled artists at the local Art Supply Warehouse, they carefully selected the colours, eagerly anticipating the outcome of Mario's distinct creation.

Board Specs: This week's featured board is a Size 4' x 19" x 2 1/2" PU shortboard with a Squash tail, glass-on twin fins, and fully polished 6oz top / 4oz bottom fiberglassing covering a Spray Design. Our platform initially stated 4.4" as the minimum, but Ben has proven that surfboards can be made smaller. Stay tuned for our upcoming smaller range when adding a surfboard on Surf Neutral!

Spotlight on Ben Soto: Meet Ben Soto, the passionate surfboard shaper from Orange County, California, who found solace and purpose in the waves despite facing challenges as a transgender individual. Ben's journey, marked by resilience and determination, led him to shape boards infused with love and energy, each carrying a piece of his soul

Starting with makeshift tools, Ben's dedication eventually led him to craft boards that connect riders with the universal energy of the ocean. Despite setbacks, he persevered, driven by a deep sense of purpose and a unique shaping process that involves singing to each board, infusing them with positivity and joy.

Ben's inclusive approach to surfing fosters a sense of belonging within the community. He acknowledges the industry's progress towards diversity and inclusivity, inspired by influential figures such as Brian Bent, Logan Antill, Tanner Praire, and Matt Kazuma Kinoshita.
